Basic Function may include:

Working as part of a team in the factory, your primary duties are to perform a variety of butchery assistant tasks and to support in the operational functions of the factory.  Your daily tasks may include working in slaughter, boning hall, or retail operations including machine operations, packing, receiving/dispatching of product and hygiene/operational cleaning tasks as well as other factory associated duties.
Whilst undertaking this role you must ensure you comply with food safety, legality, quality and health and safety at all times.

Key Duties may include:

• Identification and selection of cuts and product to customer specification
• Ensure that sliced, chopped and jointed cuts of meat are in the correct containers and are properly sealed
• Preparing meat for curing, adding of ingredients for further processing
• Set-up and use of machinery within the butchery process
• Maintain the flow of product through the process to meet production speeds
• Providing the correct packaging materials in line with customer specification
• Preparing hides and skins ensuring they are trimmed, sorted, graded and preserved for further processing
• Preparing meat for storage in line with stock rotation, required temperatures, traceability standards and correct product specification
• Final packing, weighing and labelling of product for wholesale and retail sale
• Assisting with intake and dispatching of product
• Proper use, cleaning, maintaining of hygiene and storage of issued PPE
• Carry out essential hygiene cleaning of equipment and machinery and the general factory environment using food grade chemicals in order to maintain food safety and hygiene standards
• Maintaining health, safety and hygiene standards in accordance with Company rules and regulations.
• Continuously develop and undertake training throughout the department as and when required
• Ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to
• Ensure all duties are completed
• Work in other roles which would not normally be in your charge in order to ensure that all departments are covered for holidays, absences and busy periods

MANDATORY SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• No English Language required
• Minimum of 1 year practical food industry experience

• Where machinery work is being undertaken, you will be expected to be proficient in the use of all relevant machinery and tools that are required to fulfil the role.  This includes the use of saws, cutting equipment, vacuum packing equipment etc.
• Where cleaning operations take place, you will be expected to be trained in food safety and chemical handling
• Where loading tasks take place, you may be expected to be trained in the use of pallet trucks, forklift trucks (where required), other loading equipment and manual handling
